WHAT is a Fresh 48 Photo Session?
Fresh 48s are special photo sessions for parents and families who want their newborn photographed within the first forty-eight hours of their birth. Typically, these photo shoots take place at the hospital or birthing center – or wherever mama decides she wants to have that baby! Your photographer will then head over with their camera once the baby is born.
WHY Should you Book a Fresh 48 Photo Session?
Any mom will tell you, the first few days after birth are a fog! A Fresh 48 session is perfect to (help you) remember the details during those first 48 hours: shots of first yawns, feedings, and diaper changes might not seem like a big deal now, but someday you will look back in awe of how little and new everything was! The tiny belly button, fingers, and toes - babies change so fast, you will not believe they were ever that small!
HOW is a Fresh 48 Photo Session Different from a Newborn Photo Session?
Although it might be easy to get them confused, this is NOT a traditional Newborn session; families who book Fresh 48 sessions usually book Newborn sessions, as well. Fresh 48s take place within a few days after birth whereas Newborn sessions take place within a few weeks after birth. Additionally, no props, posing, or lighting will be utilized during a Fresh 48, instead it just captures your newborn in a natural photo journalistic way.
WHO is Included in a Fresh 48 Photo Session?
Fresh 48 photo sessions capture those first bonding moments between you and your baby as you introduce them to their new world. While the baby is the star of the show, Fresh 48s often include photos with both parents, too. If timed correctly, first meetings with family and friends can also be captured on film. Sometimes parents will want to include photos of their little one with their favorite doctors, nursing staff, or doulas, too!
WHAT is Included in a Fresh 48 Photo Session?
Typically, Fresh 48 photo sessions include one photographer for a time ranging from about 60 to 90 minutes. Hospitals and birthing centers are busy places, and for health and safety photographers do not stick around too long. While photography packages may vary, ours includes a slideshow set to music of all your images and a private password protected online gallery to share along with a print release.
WHEN Should You Book a Fresh 48 Session?
You want to contact your photographer in advance so they can pencil your due date into the calendar. This is not something you leave to the last minute! Clear communication early means your photographer is expecting your call when you are expecting that baby. When you go into labor, you or your birthing partner will then give the photographer the word – and they will be ready and waiting on standby for the baby to arrive!
