Giving Back with the Lincoln School & their LincUPtoLearn Program
Growing up, I was lucky enough to attend the Lincoln School in Providence, Rhode Island. It is an all-girls K - Grade 12 school on a mission to create professional and fearless females. The education I received there absolutely contributed to the woman I am today! #boldminds
So naturally, when I heard about the LincUP2Learn program where students would be paired with alumnae for a day of learning, networking, and bonding with a career role model, I was all in. I jumped at the opportunity to give back to the school that gave so much to me! Especially since it involved young women interested in photography, which reminds me so much of myself at that age.
Two students joined me at the studio for the afternoon, Anika and Anna. To get the full experience of a photo session and the process involved, I planned a shoot with professional make up {Ali Lomazzo Beauty} to take their headshots and have them photograph each other. All I did was give them a few tips and let them take it from there; they were genuinely interested in photography, had great questions! It felt good to give them honest feedback and encouragement about their future careers as photographers, and to hear their thoughts on where they think the industry is going. These girls do have talent, as you can see from some of the cool images they took - It was such an awesome day!
You can read about about what Anika and Anna had to say about working with us on the Lincoln Blog.
