In the last few days of summer 2020 we met up with Harley + Trish for an engagement session because they decided, pandemic be damned, they were moving ahead with their plans to marry in January 2021. Of course, we were enthusiastic about that!
We chose a gorgeous September day in Providence and started the shoot at XacoTaco, where they had their first date and Harley had proposed (awwww), the owner even let us have the back room to ourselves for the photo shoot! We love when clients choose locations meaningful to them because those environments make them happiest, and usually they have bonds with people there (like management) to give us the hookup!
Harley and Trish included Harley’s daughters and their dog, Mona, in the engagement session, which we thought was a great idea. The eldest, Dallas, took a while to get relaxed with us while the younger, Mara, struck supermodel poses the whole time. Mona was just so happy to be there! The time we got to spend with the kids during this shoot is beneficial since we are also photographing the wedding and want them comfortable with us and natural in front of the camera for the big day! We definitely bonded!
After XacoTaco, we went to the city’s newest architectural highlight, the Providence Pedestrian Bridge, for more photos of the entire family. The sunlit skyline and river views made the perfect backdrop! We finished the day at India Point Park, another favorite, and by then the girls were so at ease with us we got some sweet and cozy family portraits. All in, it was a fun afternoon getting to know this fun family!
