One of the biggest reasons we suggest Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island to our engagement clients is its versatility when it comes to landscape. It has wooded areas, bay views, a pier, beaches, stone buildings and tons of charm! Kristina and Jason agreed it would be perfect for their engagement session, and so we set up to meet there on a warm fall day in September.
When we arrived, the skies were overcast, which you may think is bad news for an engagement shoot, but not necessarily! Clouds keep your eyes from squinting and the light from reflecting off your head. It is also less likely you will start sweating in the middle of your session! We started in the woods by the old stone wall and let Jason and Kristina get comfortable behind the camera as we walked through the picnic area and the fields, over the bridge by the channel, and finally to the stunning stretch of coastline Colt State Park might be most famous for.
Anyone who knows Colt State Park knows it is the place to be for Uh-mazing sunsets! Locals and travelers alike come just to sit and watch the sky every day just before sundown. Who can blame them with the unobstructed western views of Narragansett Bay and the sun setting down over the horizon beyond? Well as luck had it, the clouds broke, and the most incredible orange skies appeared before us as we got closer to the water. Jason and Kristina ended up with spectacular sunset engagement photos - that trust us, do not come along every day! We were in the right place at the right time; it was just meant to be!
