FAMILY PORTRAITS

for the people you love most

Family portrait sessions are about more than getting everyone to smile at the camera. For me, they’re about preserving connection, personality, and the way your family feels right now. The goal is to create images that feel natural, beautiful, and worth living with.

Family photos that feel natural

When I photograph families, I’m not chasing perfection. I’m paying attention to the way your child leans into you, the laughter between siblings, the energy, the softness, and the little interactions that make your family yours. Of course I’ll guide you when needed, but I never want the session to feel stiff or over-directed. My goal is always to create space for real connection so the photographs feel honest, relaxed, and beautifully composed.

Whether your children are little, growing fast, or nearly grown, family portraits give you the chance to hold onto this chapter with intention.

These images reflect the kind of family photography I love most: natural light, genuine connection, and portraits that feel true to the people in them.

What to expect

Family portrait sessions are designed to feel easy from beginning to end. Before the session, I’m happy to help with location ideas, wardrobe guidance, and any questions about what will photograph best.

During the session, I’ll guide you gently while also leaving room for the in-between moments that often become the most meaningful images. The result is a gallery that feels polished, but still natural.

Studio or on location

Family portraits can take place in my Warwick studio or on location somewhere in Rhode Island, depending on the look and feel you want.

If you’re drawn to soft natural light and a clean, simple setting, the studio may be the right fit. If you’d love something more seasonal, coastal, or personal to your family, an outdoor session may make more sense.

Maternity

If you’re preparing for a new baby, maternity portraits are a beautiful way to honor the season before everything changes.

About Nicole

I’m a Rhode Island portrait photographer with over twenty years of experience and a BFA in Photography from the Hartford Art School. My work is centered on natural connection, beautiful light, and creating photographs that feel both artful and real.

Many of the families I photograph return over the years for different milestones, and being invited back into those chapters is one of the most meaningful parts of what I do.

Frequently asked questions

I usually recommend clothing that feels comfortable, coordinated, and true to you rather than overly matched. Soft, timeless colors and pieces that allow movement tend to photograph beautifully, and I’m always happy to help guide you before the session.

Sessions can take place in my Warwick studio or on location somewhere in Rhode Island. The best setting depends on the look you want and what feels most natural for your family.

That worry is incredibly common, and you’re definitely not alone in it. I approach family sessions with patience and flexibility, and I’m always watching for natural moments rather than expecting children to perform perfectly.

Yes, absolutely. If you’d like to include grandparents or multiple generations, I’m happy to talk through what makes the most sense for the session.

That depends on the type of session and the setting, but the goal is always to give us enough time to create something meaningful without making the experience feel drawn out.
