2020 has been crazy so far, but despite it all, couples are still falling in love and planning their dream weddings, which includes engagement photoshoots to share their love with their families and the world!
With Rhode Island in Phase 1, we thought we’d share 4 of our favorite (and absolutely stunning!) state parks that are now open for groups of less than 5 to enjoy as the days grow longer and warmer! Why not take advantage of this opportunity to have your engagement photos done for summer? You and your beloved don’t need masks so long as you are apart from others, and we don’t need to be close either because our lenses are super powered - plus we will have our masks on!
Colt State Park, Bristol, Rhode Island
Why we love it: Colt is a large park with grassy fields, rocky shores, and wooded wonderlands. So versatile! It is also one of the best sunset spots in all of Rhode Island, since you can see Warwick across the water as the sun goes down. For couples in northern Rhode Island, it gives you those stellar Narragansett Bay views without having to cross the bridges to Newport and Jamestown.
Fort Adams, Newport, Rhode Island
Why we love it: Fort Adams was once the largest active coastal fort in the US, with panoramic views of Jamestown, Newport, and the east entrance to Narragansett Bay. Naturally, this park holds a lot of history, so the architecture and grounds are remarkably preserved for modern day enjoyment – like photoshoots! If you are into exposed brick and ocean views, this is the place for you!
Fort Wetherill, Jamestown, Rhode Island
Why we love it: Fort Wetherill sits high on the cliffs of Jamestown, and since it’s a former coastal defense battery it offers unmatched views of the Atlantic and Newport. Over the years, the land has reclaimed much of the property, providing fauna over what was once all concrete. Bonus: A lot of the concrete is now a colorful display of graffiti, so if you want that urban look on the coast, it’s yours!
Beavertail State Park, Jamestown, Rhode Island
Why we love it: Beavertail is the place to be for all those diehard ocean loving New Englanders! Featuring a rocky coastline, dramatic breakers, and most importantly, the lighthouse! It also offers views of both the west and east entrances to Narragansett Bay, so it is perfect for sunrise or sunset shoots, and for catching sailboats and other ships passing in the background!
We will keep monitoring social distancing regulations in Rhode Island and update you as more parks and public spaces open. If you are still uncomfortable with public spaces, that’s cool, too! Reach out to us about engagement shoots in your back yard or home. Don’t let Covid-19 put a damper on your engagement excitement!
