Our 5th Annual Fall Mini Sessions in the Orchard

This fall we hosted our annual family mini sessions at Indian Rock Farm in Scituate, Rhode Island, which has become a tradition for us – this was our 5th year! Although we had to do things a bit differently because of COVID19 and social distancing regulations, we found this year to be an amazing success! Our returning families were understanding (and even excited) about the changes and our new clients were thrilled with our setup! We even had former clients refer new families to us, the Grays and the Smiths, which we certainly appreciated during a difficult year. As usual, pets were welcome and were just so happy to be there with their humans!

Previously, the “red truck” (a 1940’s Ford Pickup) was the star of our mini sessions, the bed all decked out in winter or holiday décor. Unfortunately, due to concerns about sanitizing the truck between appointments, we decided it would not be an option for our 2020 mini sessions. We did not panic, though! We reached out to fellow supermom and client-turned-friend Shannon, who is a crafty and creative genius when it comes to props & prop design for photoshoots!

With Shannon’s help, we set up a series of themed vignettes around the orchard so families would have options when it came to backdrops. We had set ups for a fall pumpkin scene, vintage holiday doorstep, a giant wreath, a toy car, and even a hot chocolate stand – which was the runaway favorite for most of our clients! It was a lot of fun to watch the kids so enthusiastic about each scene, interacting with the props and offering up lots of great photo opportunities!

Once again, we offered holiday cards with all our photo packages, and many families opted for albums and wall art to give as gifts this holiday season, too. With the pandemic restricting visits with extended family this year, photography made the perfect gift!
