Molly and Michael discovered us through their wedding venue, Wannamoisett Country Club in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, because we are on their preferred vendor list and our photography is offered as a part of their wedding packages. Some couples enjoy the ability to streamline the hiring process and trust their venue’s referrals for professionals they can rely on, which is why we love this type of arrangement!

Since Molly and Michael tie the knot October 14th (six short months away!) and knew they wanted to create save-the-dates with their engagement photos, our first priority was picking a date and deciding on a location for their engagement session. We need time to get those edited, designed, approved, printed, and sent so guests can mark their calendars; this is important to keep in mind when scheduling your engagement shoot, FYI!

Molly and Michael are parents to an adorable and adventurous pup named Lucy, so we opted for our East Bay favorite, Colt State Park, which is dog friendly and has plenty of options for backdrops and scenic overlooks. It turns out Lucy the Lab thinks she’s Lucy the fish and wanted to swim the entire time we were there, but since she looked so sweet in her “I Do Too” bandana, we forgave her! Honestly, she steals the spotlight from Mom and Dad in a few of the photos - What a cute little fur-baby family!

How did you meet?
We met on the dating app Bumble

Where was your first date?
Malted Barley in Providence

Where / how did you get engaged?
We got engaged at our house, a few months after moving in. It was casual, low key, but perfect. The moment just felt right… and the Packers had just won in overtime, so Mike was ecstatic!!!

Why was it important for you to do an engagement session (besides it coming with your photo package)?
It was important because we hardly ever take pictures together and it was really nice to just spend the time together just enjoying each other’s company and celebrating our love for each other.

What was your favorite part of your session?
I like that the whole session was laid-back, not a lot of pressure and prompting a million uncomfortable poses. We could just be us. You guys were also very patient with our puppy, who just wanted to run into the water the whole time!

What is your favorite image and why?
I like the image of the two of us hugging on the dock, trying to stay warm. It just looks natural and happy.

Was there anything that you learned about us and how we shoot that you didn't know ahead of time?
I don’t know if this answers the above question, but it was fun, and you both made it a lot less awkward than we thought it would be!
